Food on the streets of istanbul, Turkey

I bought this bagel-like bread covered with sesame from a food vendor in the streets. It was quite hard and dry but tasted quite nice. Maybe I was hungry! It sells for 1 lira which is about slightly less than $1. It is called 'simit' which sounds like 'what is it' in hokkien!

"Simit is a fast food bread sold in the streets of Turkey by vendors. It is often eaten as a breakfast food with jam or yogurt. Simit is also great by itself!

Simit is light and flaky, baked to a golden brown color, and topped with sesame seeds. It is sometimes formed into rings, and are often braided."

New South Wales English Test 27 June

Reminder : Those who are taking the test, please remember to bring a 2B pencil for shading.

Today we did Indirect Characterisation based on the stories :
Smart Ice Cream and The Peddlar of Swaffham. I really enjoyed the stories so far, don't you?

As for Social Studies, I hope all of you are now on Level One at least - you know something bout Kampong Glam. Do remember to hand in your Social Studies Activity Books 4B to keep in the cupboards.

Well tomorrow we will continue the 4 more 'traits' and also take a picture of Group 1 and Group 4 - the winners of the Ice Cream Stick Challenge for Term 2.

Nice reading your comments. My apologies if I can't reply all of them. But those who commented please collect your prizes from me tomorrow :)

I'm still in school at 5.15 pm, after my swimming CCA. Sigh. Oh yes, by the way all the 6 pupils for the English Supplementary Classes will come on Wednesdays, starting next week, not Mondays.

Please remind me to make this change in the supplementary class tomorrow (first person to remind me will get a reward)

See you in school tomorrow! :)

Welcome back!

Welcome back to school, everyone!! Hope you all had a restful, fun and relaxing June holiday. As for me, I had a fun trip in Turkey. Will post more on that later. What about you? How did you spend your holidays? Care to post some pics here? For the rest of Term 3 and Term 4, we are going to use this new blog to connect everyone to news, updates, events and happenings :)

For a start, this is going to be a short week of 4 days as Friday is E-learning and there's no school. There will be the 100th Anniversary musical at night. I'd be busy co-ordinating the food and refreshments for the teachers and participating pupils. Please take note that I'd be on a floating time-table, which means I will also be teaching the afternoon session. I will not need to report to school early on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.  So if you are looking for me on those days and I am not in school yet, please leave a note at the General Office to put into my mail tray.

Do add your comments or questions here so that we can have some feedback from all of you :)

Stay healthy and have sufficient rest as Term 3 is going to be a roller-coaster term ahead!
