A peddler is a canvasser, solicitor or traveling vendor who goes from house to house or street to street selling goods or merchandise he carries with him.
Peddlers don't have to sell second hand goods. As long as they move from place to place with their wares, they are one. From what I saw, the merchandise looked quite new. I doubt they are second hand.
